A morning dedicated to sharing expertise
Bringing together professionals from across the waste management sector, this open day was part of an effort to share and showcase an industrial project carried out in close cooperation between AKTID and our client PSI Environnement. Throughout the morning, visitors were able to tour the facilities and speak directly with the technical teams about the specifics of the process.
The tours were led by Patrick Folcher, Marc Daura and Raphaël Fine, who shared their expertise on the design and operation of the facility with participants.

ORBIA: an SRF production unit with unprecedented flexibility
The highlight of the visit, ORBIA is the new Solid Recovered Fuel production unit designed and built by AKTID on behalf of PSI Environnement. The SRF produced at this site directly supplies a nearby industrial boiler plant, contributing to the region’s decarbonization efforts.
Designed to process up to 60,000 tonnes of waste per year, the facility stands out above all for its versatility. Its various feed modes allow it to recover a wide range of waste streams: commercial and industrial waste, sorting rejects, bulky waste from recycling centers, and Écomobilier (furniture waste). In terms of packaging, several formats are already possible — bulk or wrapped — with a future prospect of evolving toward SRF production intended for cement plants.
This technical flexibility reflects an ambition shared by both partners: to produce a local and sovereign energy resource, capable of adapting to the region’s energy and industrial outlets.
Enviropôle, the leading environmental hub in the Greater South-West
Beyond discovering ORBIA, participants were also able to visit the entire Enviropôle site, which brings together PSI Environnement’s various waste management activities. As the leading environmental hub in the Greater South-West, this site recovers more than 120,000 tonnes of waste each year, illustrating the scale and diversity of the treatment channels deployed in the region.
A project born from exemplary cooperation
Beyond its technical dimension, this day was also an opportunity to highlight the cooperation between AKTID and PSI Environnement in bringing this project to life. The construction of ORBIA is based on close collaboration between the teams of both organizations, as well as with the energy and industrial partners involved in the recovery of the SRF produced on site.
