L’innovation au service du tri des déchets

Innovation
Innovation at the heart of our strategy
The recycling industry has evolved significantly in recent years. Sorting centre processes are more automated and more complex, their capacities are greater, and cost and productivity targets are more ambitious.
For several years now, Aktid has been implementing an internal continuous improvement process and investing heavily in research and development. Our aim is to provide quick and ingenious responses to our customers’ needs. This strategy has led to the emergence of new and innovative solutions, technologies and procedures that make our facilities ever more efficient, while improving the profitability of our investments.

Aktid gives itself the means to innovate
With up to 5% of turnover devoted to research and development, Aktid is well equipped to anticipate future challenges in the waste management sector. To meet its challenges, Aktid has structured its innovation department around two centres, making innovation one of its strategic pillars:
Mechanical R&D Centre
Thanks to a constant technology watch, our teams have a detailed view of the “core process” equipment available on the world market. Thanks to our experience in the field and over 150 projects, we know the exact strengths and limitations of each solution. This enables us to design tailor-made facilities that are perfectly adapted to our customers’ incoming flows, constraints and performance objectives.

Équipements by Aktid
We have chosen to bring the design of certain key equipment in-house, where we are convinced that we can offer real added value compared with existing products on the market. Ballistic separators, cardboard separators, rotary sorting tables, optimised conveyors: each product has been designed to enhance the overall performance of our facilities and reduce operating costs, particularly through easier maintenance.
Development of new processes
Faced with the rapid evolution of waste and the emergence of new market segments, our R&D department is constantly developing and testing new sorting configurations. This involves feasibility studies, the design of pilot lines, and innovative combinations of equipment. These experiments enable us to validate new processes, adapted to the specific challenges of our customers.
Automation and Artificial Intelligence Centre
As of 2018, Aktid has embarked on a pioneering Research & Development plan, focusing on the self-piloting of sorting centres. This approach has given rise to the Aktid Smart Solutions® range of products designed to meet the strategic and operational needs of operators: continuous improvement of performance, reduction of human intervention and anticipation of production deviations.
Aktid Smart Solutions® illustrate Aktid’s commitment to optimising waste sorting facilities.
This range of products combines automation and artificial intelligence to support the transformation of sorting centres towards Industry 5.0.

Innovation as the driving force, self-piloting on the horizon
Our 30 years of experience as a systems integrator for waste sorting centres gives us a comprehensive view of market developments, and has enabled us to acquire a unique knowledge of the industry. This expertise, combined with the growing challenges in the waste management sector, means that we have a duty.
Therefore, we have not only the capacity, but also the responsibility to contribute actively to the development of our industry, to make it ever more efficient, and therefore ever more virtuous. Very early on, we invested heavily in automation and artificial intelligence, convinced that this would be an integral part of the future of waste sorting. This is how we developed solutions to redefine and optimise the performance of sorting centres, with a bold aim: self-piloting facilities. At Aktid, operational support and innovation have always been the driving forces behind turning challenges into opportunities and waste into valuable resources.
“This ambition and enthusiasm are rooted in our DNA, and are shared by all the teams in the Aktid Group. I’m proud of what we’ve already achieved, and I can’t wait to see the solutions we’re developing”
