In France, since 2019, companies with more than 50 employees are required by law to measure and publish their Gender Equality Index. Scored out of 100 points, this index is a valuable tool that enables companies to assess their performance in terms of workplace equality.
The index is calculated based on five indicators, for a total of 100 points :
-
Elimination of pay gaps between women and men, for comparable positions and ages or within the same socio-professional category (40 points)
-
Equal opportunities for salary increases between women and men (20 points)
-
Equal opportunities for promotion between women and men (15 points)
-
Salary increases granted to all employees returning from maternity leave, where increases were awarded during their absence (15 points)
-
At least four women or men among the ten highest earners (10 points)
